About the Sculpture Process . . .

The sculpture process starts with a block of clay which is cut and hand-shaped to create the desired form. Details and texture are then added or carved out until the image is finalized. My goal for this piece was to work on texture to closer reflect the fur of the fox. The baby fox was painted to reflect the driftwood which accompanied the sculpture.

“I love nature so I, many times, start with a found earthen element
(i.e. rock, driftwood, shell, tree limb, etc.) and the image emerges
in the process of shaping the clay in my hands.”
